7 Enoteca is located in a beautiful square in the heart of downtown Oakville. They have a fairly modern and trendy interior and a beautiful patio (one downstairs and one upstairs) complete with fountain. Really relaxing and perfect for a summer meal! We were lucky enough to have what felt like our own private patio space at lunchtime as we were slightly elevated and the only table there. Small bonsai plants were placed on each table, which added a nice touch.
The water glasses were fairly small and it was a hot day out so we were drinking quite a bit. Our waitress was right on it however, and our cups never remained empty for too long. She was helpful, attentive (but not intrusive) and very friendly. Overall I felt that the service was great.
We decided to share 2 different dishes for our appetizer round, which included a beet dish and a salad. The presentation of both was beautifully done and it ended up tasting as good as it looked. The salad was lightly dressed and finished with a wonderful balsamic dressing and topped with an incredible cheese (possibly manchego or something similar in flavour). The beets were perfectly cooked and were garnished with chopped nuts and pea shoots drizzled in honey. On the side was one of the best ricottas I have had and it was lightly baked. The combination of the sweet beets, honey, nuts and cheese was sublime. There was not a morsel of food left.
7 Enoteca has a 900 degree oven that cooks the pizza in about 60 seconds. The crust was made with “00” flour (finely ground flour) and I believe semolina. Very authentic and a perfect Neapolitan pizza. We chose their Marinara pizza and added mozzarella di bufala to it. They used san marzano tomatoes (my favourite as I find they have the best flavour) and garlic, olives and oregano. Very fresh, light ingredients. We split the 3 dishes between 3 people and found it was enough food (although we could have probably managed another pizza).
Their menu had quite a few options for vegetarians and I think that they can make adjustments as need be. I would definitely call this place vegetarian friendly as I was able to find really good options for myself.
The only downfall I found with this restaurant was their price. While the food and service is great, I felt everything was a bit overpriced. The beet dish we got was $22 alone and as you can see in the picture above, it wasn’t exactly a large portion (although the helping of cheese was quite a good size). For the 3 of us sharing 3 dishes the meal cost around $50-$60, which feels a bit much considering what we got and the portion size. Again the food is excellent, but be prepared to pay.
