What was once called One Pizza is now True True, the South Beach inspired build-your-own pizza experience. The new decor of pastel pink and blue makes me feel like I have walked back in time to the 80s/early 90s. At first I wasn’t sure about their new look, but after sitting there for a while, it started to grow on me. There is plenty of seating (you seat yourself) and lots of booth space options as well. A very casual vibe with a unique colour pallet, it definitely stands out as a different look from the other restaurants in the city.
Not too much to comment on here as this isn’t a fine dining experience. You go up to the counter, order your pizza (one of their pre-builds or build-your-own), pay at the cash and they bring you your pizza or call it out when it is ready. You even seat yourself, so not to much interaction with staff. The staff were all nice and helpful and even gave me a great suggestion about what to substitute the duck for that was suppose to come on my pizza (got caramelized onions instead).
I just got a San Pellegrino, but they do have wine on tap and beers available as well if you prefer a more fun drink with your pizza!
I had been to this place when it was under its old identity of One Pizza and had done the build-your-own a few times before. I decided to try out one of their seasonal pre-built pizzas this time around. Called “Le Canard”, this pizza featured a Bechamel sauce with Gorgonzola cheese and Duck Confit, Roasted Butternut Squash, Green Onions, Sage and Sauteed Mushrooms for the toppings. Since I am a vegetarian, I changed the Duck Confit to a Caramelized Onion instead (thanks to the suggestion of one of the staff). This pizza was PHENOMENAL! Really rich and all the ingredients worked so nicely together. It is a personal size and you get about 8 small square slices out of it. If they don’t have this pizza available for order next time, I am definitely going to try and recreate it by building my own.
Since you pretty much have total control over your toppings, this is most definitely a vegetarian friendly venue. Tons of choices to be made starting from type of crust (gluten free is an option if I recall correctly), to the sauce (tomato, spicy tomato, bechamel, pesto, bbq), to the many many many topping options.
What makes this place even more amazing is the prize as it’s a one price fits all. No matter what choices you make with how to build your pizza (toppings, sauce, crust) it is all the same price (give or take 1 or 2 really special things that might cost a bit extra). Want to put on every cheese they have, no problem, you won’t be paying any more than if you just got one. Pizza’s are around $13 and definitely worth it if you like to dress it up with unique ingredients!
